This body of work is also a metaphor, for larger bodies, of people and of societies. If we mapped onto the human body, how we operate on societal levels, we would find grotesque beings being the result. The human body is a source of inspiration, for bodies of any size and complexity, to show that complex systems of independant organs, can operate in balance.
"I create plausible, realistic oil paintings, rendered from direct observation of clay models and sets that I construct myself. The paint layering technique is masterful and fresh, and the color is vibrant. Each painting has at most five colors, three of which are always only red, yellow, and blue.
I work in series with the models, and progressively alter a model for each new painting, and arrive at a series of paintings this way, from one single manipulated model."
